Abstract

The biometric analysis is important for better understanding of the anatomy and possible correlation with the physiology. The research aimed to evaluate the specific biometric of the crop of eight Southern Caracara (Polyborus plancus), four males and four females, by weighing in grams and measured in centimeters from the crop and subsequent comparison between males and females. The birds were anesthetized, euthanized and eviscerated and crop exposed on a surface so that no stretch of the organ and collected data on weight with a precision scale and measured with the aid of a tape measure in millimeters.T he data were analyzed statistically by Student's test with significance level p ? 0.05. It was concluded that females have greater length and lower weight compared to crop of male caracara.
